Avianca Brasil, officially OceanAir Linhas Aéreas, was a major Brazilian domestic airline founded in 1998 and rebranded under the Avianca name in 2010. Despite briefly joining Star Alliance in 2015, mounting debt led the airline to file for bankruptcy protection in December 2018, and Brazil’s civil aviation authority (ANAC) suspended all its operations on May 24, 2019, permanently ending its scheduled service.
