About Liat Airlines

LIAT Airlines (also styled LIAT Air) is the successor to the original LIAT (1974), a storied Caribbean inter-island carrier that traced its roots to 1956 but was liquidated in January 2024 after years of financial strain worsened by the pandemic. A new company was formed as a joint venture between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda (30%) and Air Peace Caribbean (70%), relaunching limited service in August 2024 and expanding steadily since.

LIAT’s rebuilt network is centered on the Eastern Caribbean, connecting Antigua and Barbados to islands including Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Guyana, and others, with active expansion plans reaching further into Central and South America.

Primary Hub

V.C. Bird International Airport, Antigua (ANU)

V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) in Antigua is LIAT’s primary hub, with a significant additional base at Argyle International Airport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Alliance & Partner Airlines

LIAT is not a member of Star Alliance, oneworld, or SkyTeam and operates independently, rebuilding its regional Caribbean network under new ownership after the original LIAT’s 2024 liquidation.

Baggage, Seating & Onboard Amenities

A quick reference before you pack — always confirm exact allowances on your fare rules at booking, since they vary by route and cabin.

Carry-On & Personal Item

Standard fares typically include one carry-on bag plus a personal item within set limits — confirm the exact allowance for your route.

Checked Baggage

Checked baggage allowance depends on fare class and route, with most fares including a standard allowance shown clearly at booking.

Excess Baggage Fees

Overweight, oversized, or extra bags typically incur a per-bag fee charged at check-in or online in advance — pre-paying online is usually cheaper than paying at the airport.

Seat Selection & Cabin Classes

LIAT operates a fleet of Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets on its Eastern Caribbean network, with Economy seating on most routes.

How to Find the Cheapest Liat Airlines Fares

Four habits that consistently lower what you pay.

Book in the Sweet-Spot Window

For most Liat Airlines routes, fares tend to be most competitive when booked several weeks to a few months ahead of departure, rather than at the last minute or extremely far out.

Fly Midweek and Off-Peak

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday departures are usually cheaper than Friday or Sunday, and red-eye or early-morning flights often undercut peak daytime departures.

Set Fare Alerts

Track your route and let price-drop notifications do the watching, instead of checking manually every day.
Price-Tracking Tip
Compare a fixed date range over a week or two before deciding — single-day price checks can be misleading.

Use Flexible Date Search

Searching a date range instead of one fixed day often surfaces Liat Airlines fares that are noticeably lower just one or two days earlier or later.

Check-In & Day-of-Travel

Online Check-In

Online and mobile check-in generally opens 24–48 hours before departure, letting you select or confirm your seat and download your boarding pass in advance.

Airport Arrival Times

Arrive with enough buffer for check-in, bag drop, and security — this matters more on international Aegean Airlines routes than short domestic hops.

Domestic vs. International Cutoff

International check-in and bag-drop counters usually close earlier relative to departure than domestic ones, so double-check your specific route’s cutoff.
